This project was to create a mobile of different polyhedra all having the same surface area. Since the polyhedra were made out of scored cardboard, if they all had the same surface area, they also all weighed the same and were thus easier to balance in a mobile.

We created designs using graphing software, fiddling with equations to see what different patterns we could get. Then we used printable iron-on T-shirt transfers to transfer our designs onto T-shirts.
A hollow sculpture container in sterling silver and bronze I made in 1976 in the metal shop at R.I.S.D. It once had a companion piece, now lost, that was a tetrahedron and sphere. It was an interesting problem to figure out how to construct these forms from sheet metal
